Meanwhile, Real Sociedad are closing out Sunday’s action with a marquee matchup against Atlético Madrid.
Earlier on Saturday, Real Madrid put four goals past Rayo Vallecano in a 4-1 victory. Athletic Club and Elche ended in a 1-1 draw, Espanyol secured a 2-0 away win at Osasuna, and newcomers Racing Santander won 2-1 against Deportivo Alavés.
Villarreal will officially close out Matchday 5 when they host Real Betis on Monday night.
As it stands, Barcelona sits comfortably at the top of the league table with a perfect 15 points, followed by rivals Real Madrid on 12 points.
