Real Madrid Demands Immediate Resignation of LaLiga President Javier Tebas

Real Madrid C.F. has demanded the immediate resignation of LaLiga President Javier Tebas following what it deems were highly controversial comments comparing the club’s management methods to Nazi propaganda machine Joseph Goebbels.

In a scathing official announcement released Friday, October 16, 2026, Real Madrid branded Tebas’s statements “morally repugnant” and “institutionally unworthy,” stating that his position as both the head of LaLiga and vice president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) is no longer tenable.

The fierce institutional war between Spain’s biggest club and its league boss reached a boiling point after Tebas allegedly compared the communications strategy of Real Madrid and its official channel, Real Madrid TV, to the manipulative propaganda tactics of the Nazi regime.

Though Tebas reportedly clarified he was not referencing Nazi ideology itself, Real Madrid completely rejected the defense.

“The clarification that he is not referring to Nazi ideology does not mitigate the deeply offensive, morally repugnant, and institutionally unworthy nature of his statements,” the club said in a statement. “Real Madrid C. F. considers it absolutely intolerable and extraordinarily serious that someone holding two positions of utmost responsibility in Spanish football resorts to a comparison with the propaganda methods of the Nazi regime.”

The Negreira Case Friction

The club believes Tebas’s outburst is a deliberate attempt to deflect attention from the ongoing Negreira case—the where Madrid alleges that alleged payments made by FC Barcelona to the former vice president of Spain’s Technical Committee of Referees were used to influence referring decisions and match outcomes.

Real Madrid accused Tebas of using his platform to protect the current footballing establishment rather than fixing it.

Due to a perceived “lack of response” from Spanish authorities, Real Madrid confirmed they have bypassed local bodies entirely and have approached UEFA directly to demand a full investigation into FC Barcelona’s refereeing payments.

The club is demanding a complete structural cleanup of the Spanish refereeing system and the removal of officials who held power during the Negreira era.

Real Madrid concluded its statement by declaring Tebas completely unfit for office, citing a severe lack of neutrality and respect.

“His constant attacks on Real Madrid and those demanding transparency represent, in our club’s view, a genuine scourge for Spanish football,” the statement read. “Consequently, Real Madrid C. F. demands his immediate resignation as president of LaLiga and vice president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation.”

The club vowed to continue its legal and institutional fight to force a “necessary regeneration” of Spanish football governance. Neither LaLiga nor Javier Tebas has issued a formal response to the resignation demand.
