I am not lobbying to be APC Presidential Campaign DG — Wike
ABUJA, NIGERIA — The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has strongly dismissed media reports claiming he is lobbying to become the Director-General of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council (PCC).
Wike clarified that he does not need an official campaign title to secure massive electoral victories for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Rivers State and the FCT.
No Discussion on Campaign Leadership
The minister’s reaction follows recent media speculation listing him among top government officials and party chieftains positioning themselves to lead the APC’s election structure.
Speaking through his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, Wike labeled the reports as completely false. He emphasized that he has never discussed the leadership or membership of the campaign council with anyone. “I am outside Nigeria, resting and relaxing after spending over 30 days commissioning projects, flagging off new ones, and inspecting ongoing ones,” Wike stated.
He insists his focus is on the Renewed Hope Agenda
Wike reiterated his unwavering commitment to President Tinubu’s administration. He noted that project execution is his primary strategy for building political support.
