Gauteng Crisis: 11th Female Body Found in Springs as Serial Killer Fears Mount

Panic is intensifying across Gauteng after the body of an 11th woman was discovered in an open veld near a railway line in Struisbult, Springs, within the Ekurhuleni metropolitan area.

The latest discovery pushes the total number of female bodies recovered across the Gauteng province to 11 within just over two months.

The find was made around midday on Sunday by private security personnel conducting regular patrols along Rhokana Road. Law enforcement was immediately notified. According to the South African Police Service, preliminary forensic observations reveal that the victim—estimated to be roughly 20 years old—was found semi-naked and bore initial signs of potential strangulation.

Since July, bodies of young women—frequently in their 20s and 30s—have been discovered dumped in open fields, roadside bushes, and cemeteries across the metro.

Notable locations include Kempton Park, Olifantsfontein, KwaThema, Dawn Park, and a separate body discovered just a day prior at the Mooifontein Cemetery in Tembisa.
