After Private Listing, Dangote Refinery to Launch $5 Billion IPO

Dangote Refinery is set to launch the biggest Initial Public Offerings on the African continent, as the much-awaited Dangote Refinery IPO will open to the public in less than two weeks.

Billionaire businessman Aliko Dangote, who is currently on a working visit to Botswana, disclosed to investors that the launch would provide an opportunity for Africans to invest in an African-owned company.

The highly anticipated public listing is set for later in September 2026.

The IPO is expected to be worth about $5 billion, ranking it the largest equity offering in African corporate history.

Earlier, Dangote had met with the President of Botswana, Duma Boko, in the capital, Gaborone, where high-level engagements were held on business and investment opportunities.
As the southern African country pursues its economic diversification strategy beyond mining.

It comes amid a greater push for greater trade and investment in Africa by Africans using the framework of the Africa Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA).
