Activist Deji Adeyanju Petitions US, UK to Ban Senator Fadahunsi Over Alleged ‘Kill Them’ Video
ABUJA, NIGERIA — Prominent human rights lawyer and activist Deji Adeyanju Esq. has filed formal requests with the United Kingdom High Commission and the United States Embassy in Abuja, demanding an immediate visa ban on Senator Francis Adenigba Fadahunsi and his immediate family members.
The urgent petitions follow a viral video reported on various news online platforms on August 11, 2026.
In the video, Senator Fadahunsi—a lawmaker representing the All Progressives Congress (APC)—is allegedly seen addressing his supporters in the Yoruba language, openly inciting violence against political rivals.
According to the translated transcripts submitted to the foreign missions, Senator Fadahunsi reportedly ordered his followers: “From now on till the election day, whenever you see them (Accord Party members), kill them.”
A Call Against Political Impunity
In his letters, which were officially stamped and received by both Western embassies on August 12, 2026, Adeyanju urged the international community to enforce their long-standing policies of restricting visas for foreign actors who actively subvert democratic principles.
“For far too long, Nigerian politicians have acted with impunity in a manner that has subverted the will of the Nigerian people, undermined the rule of law, and caused substantial loss of lives and property of ordinary Nigerians,” Adeyanju stated in the petition. He added that enforcing a visa ban would send a definitive, strong message to political actors leveraging violence ahead of elections.
Alongside the written petitions, Adeyanju’s team submitted physical flash drives containing the raw video recordings of the Senator’s speech to serve as evidence for the foreign missions.
Demands for Asset Seizures
Beyond the immediate travel restrictions, the petitions called on the UK and US governments to expand their punitive toolkits against anti-democratic forces in Nigeria. Adeyanju specifically requested that both global powers consider the future seizure of foreign assets and the foreclosure of international business interests belonging to politicians who orchestrate political violence.
As of the time of filing this report, neither the APC leadership, Senator Fadahunsi’s media team, nor the diplomatic missions of the US and UK have issued public statements regarding the petition.
