The Ugandan government has officially unveiled a monument in Entebbe to honour Yonatan Netanyahu, the elder brother of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Uganda’s military chief, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, led the ceremony and described the statue as a tribute to the fallen soldier’s immense courage.
Yonatan Netanyahu was the only Israeli commando killed during the legendary 1976 Entebbe raid. He led the daring counter-terrorism hostage rescue operation to save 106 passengers held captive on a hijacked Air France flight.
This new monument stands near the historic site of the rescue mission, marking a significant moment in the bilateral relations between Uganda and Israel.
