Ebonyi State Governor Sacks Works Commissioner Stanley Mbah With Immediate Effect

Ebonyi State Commissioner for Works, Stanley Lebechi Mbah, has been sacked.

The announcement was made public in an official statement signed by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Monday Uzor.

According to the directive, Mbah is required to immediately hand over all government property currently in his possession, including his official vehicle, to the Secretary to the State Government (SSG).

Furthermore, the sacked commissioner has been instructed to formally transfer all ministerial responsibilities to the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Works to ensure uninterrupted operations.

No Official Reason Given for Sacking

While the official statement did not disclose the precise reasons behind the sudden dismissal, it emphasized that the administration remains unyielding in its commitment to transparency and infrastructure development.

The statement assured residents of Ebonyi State that Governor Nwifuru’s administration stays deeply focused on delivering effective governance, maintaining public accountability, and accelerating the development of public infrastructure across the state.

A History of Scrutiny and Suspension

This final removal follows a turbulent year for the Ministry of Works. Earlier this year, Mbah was suspended from his duties following intense public scrutiny over the slow pace and quality of key public projects within the state capital, Abakaliki.

During that period, residents and stakeholders aggressively called for greater efficiency, transparency, and accountability in the execution of state infrastructure initiatives.

Although he was later reinstated, this latest directive permanently brings an end to his tenure as the state’s works chief.
