APC Slams Rotimi Amaechi as ‘Loafer,’ Says 2027 Vice Presidential Hopeful Unfit After Mother’s Death Claims

ABUJA — The All Progressives Congress (APC) has launched a scathing attack on former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi, labeling him a “loafer” who is dependent on public office patronage.

The ruling party’s outburst follows recent public admissions by Amaechi that financial hardship left him unable to afford medication for his late mother, Dame Ezinne Mary Oduah Amaechi, before she passed away at age 89.

In an unusually sharp and personal press statement signed by APC National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka, CON, on Sunday, the party questioned the leadership competence of the former two-term Governor of Rivers State. The party argued that Amaechi’s self-confessed financial distress disqualifies him from seeking the nation’s second-highest office under the African Democratic Congress (ADC) platform for the 2027 elections.

“For four decades, Rotimi Amaechi freeloaded at the highest levels of public office,” Morka stated. “Just three years out of office, he has become destitute, unable to fend for himself and his loved ones. If Amaechi is not struggling with some kind of Peter Pan syndrome, then he must be a loafer, aimless and irresponsible for his inability to be productive and earn a living outside the patronage of public office.”

The APC statement began with standard condolences for the soul of Amaechi’s late mother but quickly pivoted into heavy sarcasm. The ruling party offered “prayers” that local employers in Amaechi’s hometown of Ubima, located in the Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State, might find him a job that pays enough wages to feed his family and buy medications.

The ruling party pointed directly to what it called Amaechi’s “uncanny confessions,” referencing previous reports where the former minister allegedly claimed he was so broke that his wife was feeding him.

‘Presidency Is Not a Soup Kitchen’

The statement firmly rejected his political ambitions, asserting that his current bid is a predatory attempt to return to the public treasury.

“The presidency is not a soup kitchen and will not be a soup kitchen for Rotimi Amaechi,” Morka wrote, concluding that “no one can speak more to Rotimi Amaechi’s unfitness for the office of Vice President than Rotimi Amaechi himself.”
